The first word I think of when I hear "Remington Park" is "change." More has been done in the past three months than in the past 20 years. That is saying something about the future of the attraction. Why is all of this happening and at such a speed? It took local ownership by Global Gaming in January, and we take pride in what we have.

So far, $7 million has been put into Remington Park thus far, and they aren't done yet. the indoor areas will continue to receive a facelift, but listen to what we have accomplished so far -- an updated trackside that is called "The Plaza." New furniture, brick floors, a huge waterfall, more landscaping, and new lighting throughout makes this more of an oasis than the tarmac it used to look like. There is a new PA system, new paint on the outside of the building and added lights in the parking lot for safety.

Here are my two favorite features. The new suites are outstanding. It looks completely different than it used to. High class and elegant rooms that all have their own unique personality. Not to mention the size of the suites are enormous and there is a balcony at each of them. My other favorite feature is a new restaurant. Henry Hudson's Pub and Grill is located on The Plaza (that is the side next to the track). There are tons of flat-screen televisions, an outside patio area so you can watch the horse racing while having some food and drinks, and it's the first Henry Hudson's that has a kid's menu. That means it's kid friendly. Remington Park a family-friendly destination that is growing leaps and bounds. As the VP of Global Gaming Greg Pittman puts it, "We want the Adventure District to be the jewel of the city." Well, it looks like OKC treasure chest is beginning to fill up with gems in Northeast Oklahoma City.

It's not every day that a person can buy artwork created by a grizzly bear, but the OKC Zoo made it happen. (I don't envy the person that helped with that art piece. Those animals are BIG)

I attended the opening “Art Gone Wild: Paintings by OKC Zoo Animals” on Friday night in the Historic Paseo Arts District, and it was packed with people ready to buy some art made by the new Piccasos of the art world--exotic animals. I got there around 8 p.m. and the red dots that signify the artwork was already purchased was on tons of the paintings. Animal art must be the new trend. All of the proceeds benefit thet Zoo's conservation programs, which made seeing those red dots all the more significant. There was artwork by flamingos, elephants, sea lions, rhinos and my favorite, snakes...just to name a few.

If you want to check out this extremely unique type of art, visit "In Your Eye Studio and Gallery" at 3005A Paseo in the Historic Paseo Arts District. The show runs through August 28, and I bet there's still art to buy for your daughter or grandson's birthday, and it's all for a good cause!

I had my first experience at a Softball championship game over the weekend and what surprised me the most was how passionate the fans are. If they weren't sporting a "Jennie Finch" jersey, they had on their USA shirts in support of the World Cup of Softball.

It was also bittersweet as we won the last night against Japan giving USA the Gold title! At the same time that we celebrated our victory, we said goodbye to one of the most memorable players in ASA Softball history. Jennie Finch left her cleats at the bases as she retired a ten-year career at one of the best districts in the state, the Oklahoma City Adventure District.
