Oklahoma City’s Adventure District and attractions garner five Frontier Country awards

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City’s Adventure District and three of its attractions – ASA National Softball Hall of Fame, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and the Oklahoma City Zoo collected five awards at Frontier Country Marketing Association’s Annual Awards Luncheon June 25 at Frontier City.

Oklahoma City’s Adventure District located in northeast Oklahoma City, won Frontier Country’s Outstanding Web Site award for their new Web site that launched in January 2009 with the Oklahoma City Zoo receiving honorable mention in this category.

“The recognition for outstanding Web site to okcadventure.com is very special as it presents all of the Adventure District attractions to thousands of potential visitors on a daily basis,” said Sharon Lair, chairman of the Adventure District.

Frontier Country’s Outstanding Children’s Attraction/Event went to the Oklahoma City Zoo for  Dinosaurs Unearthed that was on display at the Zoo from March 13 to June 30, 2009.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum took home honorable mention for Frontier Country’s Outstanding Exhibition for Craft in America: Expanding Traditions, an exhibit displayed at the museum from Oct. 11, 2008 to Jan. 18, 2009.

The NCAA Women’s College World Series, a week-long collegiate event hosted by ASA National Softball Hall of Fame won Frontier Country’s Outstanding Sporting Event. Remington Park’s Oklahoma Derby was also nominated in this category.

“Oklahoma City’s Adventure District is fortunate to have an outstanding group of members who strive to produce tremendous events and exhibits that everyone can enjoy,” said Lair. “The awards presented by Frontier Country Marketing Association are well deserved by those in the Adventure District that were so honored.”

Alongside the awards, Oklahoma City Zoo was recognized for its 105 years in business and Cinemark Tinseltown USA Theatre for its 25 years in business.

Oklahoma City’s Adventure District, located at the junction of I-35 and I-44, includes the Oklahoma City Zoo, Remington Park, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, ASA National Softball Hall of Fame, Oklahoma State Firefighters Museum and Cinemark Tinseltown USA Theatre.
