Oklahoma City’s Adventure District Celebrates Memorial Weekend
OKLAHOMA CITY - Summer is just around the corner and the Oklahoma City Adventure District is starting off the new season with tons of amazing events for Memorial Weekend.
Enjoy the final weekend of American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park Memorial Weekend. Memorial Day will be packed full of activities for the entire family including a petting zoo, face painting, train rides, inflatable activities and more. Remington will offer $1 sodas, hot dogs, Remington Park racing programs and beer. Visitors can also try their luck in Remington Park’s casino when taking a break from watching the exciting horse races with $500 hot seat drawings held every hour from 1 to 8 p.m.
Mosey on down to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum for one of their biggest events of the year! The Chuck Wagon Gathering & Children’s Cowboy Festival is May 29 and 30. There will be hands-on and learning activities, pony rides and even more excitement with an Old West Medicine Show to the sounds of acclaimed western singer Red Steagall and balladeer, Don Edwards, and of course, expect mouth-watering campfire food. Chuck Wagon Gathering & Children’s Cowboy Festival is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Memorial Weekend.
The Oklahoma City Zoo is flying into summer this Memorial Weekend with the annual Flowers in Flight exhibit. The Zoo’s butterfly garden exhibit opens May 28 and features 200 to 300 butterflies representing various species of butterflies that are all native to the state. Flowers in Flight is open Sunday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and best of all, it’s free with Zoo admission.
ASA National Softball Hall of Fame is open for business this Memorial Day so you can learn about the 77-year history of Amateur Softball Association through their fascinating exhibits. Check back right after Memorial Day as the Complex is gearing up for the NCAA Women’s College World Series June 3-9 and will air on ESPN HD and ESPN 2 HD.
Located at the junction of I-35 and I-44 in northeast Oklahoma City, the Adventure District includes several national and statewide attractions. Oklahoma City’s Adventure District is supported through members and partnerships including the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum.
