Oklahoma City's Adventure District Fall Events

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City's Adventure District provides a variety of entertainment opportunities this fall.

The Oklahoma City Zoo's 25th Annual Haunt the Zoo for Halloween begins Oct. 26 and continues through Halloween night from 6:30 to 8:30 each night. Haunt the Zoo for Halloween is  one of the state's largest Halloween celebrations and offers trick-or-treaters six nights to collect goodies. With fantasy-themed booths in the midst of hundreds of jack-o-lanterns, it is sure to provide entertainment for the whole family. Admission per child is $7 and free for adults.

Experience traditional Western culture this fall at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum with the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association Exhibition beginning Sept. 27 through Dec. 7. See the best saddlemaking, bit and spur making, silversmithing and rawhide braiding artistry from the exclusive membership of the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association.

Remington Park Racing Casino is celebrating its 20th anniversary season and the Thoroughbreds are running. Be sure to catch live racing with post times at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. Thoroughbred racing season continues through Dec. 14.

The fall season brings the excitement of The Met, live in HD to the big screen at Cinemark Tinseltown USA Theatre. Be a part of The Metropolitan Opera's 125th anniversary season without leaving the City. Tinseltown Theatre will show live operas from The Met once a month through The Met's entire 2008-2009 season. ASA National Softball Hall of Fame is the site for state championship softball this fall when the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium hosts the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Associations State Tournaments for fastpitch softball in all classifications of play. Classes B through 4A will play a single elimination Oct. 9-11 featuring the eight regional tournament winners to decide the state champion for their respective classes. The following weekend, Class 5A and 6A will play as they too work to crown a state champion. Schedules and information can be found at www.asasoftball.com.

Oklahomans can observe National Fire Prevention Week Oct. 5-11 by visiting the Oklahoma State Firefighters Museum and Memorial. This museum is the only one of its kind in the United States that is owned and operated by firefighters. The museum houses a remarkable collection of antique fire apparatus dating back to the mid-1700s.

Experience science in a whole new way this fall by catching a Science Live show at Science Museum Oklahoma. With a newly remodeled auditorium, museum performers take the stage and reveal the mysteries of chemistry and physics through an interactive and entertaining demonstration. Included in museum general admission, Science Live shows are scheduled at various times throughout each day and last approximately 30 minutes.
