Oklahoma City’s Adventure District Features Exciting Fall Events

OKLAHOMA CITY– As the leaves turn and the temperatures cool, those of all ages can fall into fun at Oklahoma City’s Adventure District.

With four unique attractions located at the crossroads of I-35 and I-44, Oklahoma City’s Adventure District is one of the most popular entertainment areas in the state with more than 3 million people annually.

Ghosts, goblins and gorillas come together for the annual Haunt the Zoo October 26-31 at the Oklahoma City Zoo. One of the state’s largest Halloween celebrations comes alive from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each night with friendly mascot characters to greet children as they arrive. Trick-or-treaters can collect goodies at a variety of themed booths in the midst of hundreds of jack-o-lanterns. Admission per child is $7 at the gate or $6 in advance and free for adults. Haunt the Zoo is rain or shine.

Experience the thrill of live horse racing at Remington Park Racetrack and Casino with the 67-day thoroughbred season. Racing takes place each Wednesday through Saturday until Dec. 11. The 22nd annual Oklahoma Derby will be held on Sunday, Oct. 10 with events including a hat contest, live music, and tons of activities for the children with extreme animals, Orr family train, inflatables, a mechanical Bull, and much more.  The days leading up to the Oklahoma Derby will include the Community Expo with booths for visitors to experience on Friday, Oct. 8 as well as the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Oklahoma Derby Week Hat Gala benefiting the Museum on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Remington Park. The event will have a special reception, dinner and program featuring Hall of Fame Jockey Chris McCarron as the guest speaker. Reservations are required.

National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is showing the West in a whole new way with Taste Napa Valley October 14 in the Museum’s Sam Noble Special Events Center. Vineyards from the West coast come to Oklahoma in the form of some of the finest wines on the planet. This fundraiser for the Museum will feature nearly three dozen Napa Valley wineries accompanied by foods from local chefs. Visitors will be able to meet the people behind the Napa Valley wines as well as participate in a silent auction. Tickets are $85 per person and may be purchased online or by phone at 478-2250.

Those ready to hoot and holler will enjoy a night out at the ASA National Softball Hall of Fame for the 2010 Hooters slow pitch championship series presented by Worth October 1 and 2.
