Remington Park’s lone Sunday afternoon of the season, Oklahoma Derby Day, features a program of races worth more than $1 million and plenty of festive events. The racing and the activities begin Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3pm-Central. The Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby is the marquee race with the Grade 3, $200,000 Remington Park Oaks headlining the undercard. Guests can compete in the annual Oklahoma Derby Day Hat & Tie Contest with hundreds of dollars in prizes available. The contest takes place on Track Level-North from 3-5pm. Every contestant will receive a commemorative photo. Also beginning at 3pm is the Derby Day Wine Tasting Festival, on Track Level-North. Guests, 21 and more, may enjoy tastings from Oklahoma’s finest wineries for just $20. All taking part receive entry to win a prize basket. Proceeds from the wine tasting festival will benefit Remington Park Charities. The wine festival continues until 7pm. The Oklahoma Derby is a top Breeders’ Cup prep race for many of the nation’s 3-year-olds. The day also offers many divisional stakes-racing categories and even more Breeders’ Cup prep opportunities for top horses heading to Keeneland in Lexington, Ky. the first weekend in November. These six stakes races joining the Oklahoma Derby and Remington Park Oaks on Sept. 25: – $150,000 David M. Vance Sprint – $100,000 Remington Green (turf) – $75,000 Ricks Memorial Stakes (turf) – $75,000 Kip Deville Stakes – $50,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes – $50,000 Flashy Lady Stakes Remington Park is always open for Casino gaming with simulcast racing offered daily at 11am.
