ABOUT THE EVENT
VIP Performance: August 10
Southern Plains Productions presents Lauren Gunderson's Silent Sky at Science Museum Oklahoma. Get ready to experience the Kirkpatrick Planetarium in a brand new way!
Silent Sky tells the story of Henrietta Leavitt, who at the turn of the 20th century worked in the Harvard University Observatory as a human “computer,” helping map the stars but receiving no credit. Despite the restrictive gender norms of her time and challenges associated with hearing loss, Leavitt discovered a means of measuring distance on an intergalactic scale, which changed our perspective of the universe.
A VIP performance will be held on August 10 with all proceeds directly benefitting the museum. Guests attending this VIP showing will be greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne, perfectly complemented by a tempting popcorn bar. A limited number of tickets for this performance are available for $35. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. A cash bar will also be available.
There will be four general showings of Silent Sky, August 11-13. Tickets for those shows are $25.
