Hot Rod Power Tour, AMA OKC Mile and Nitro Circus Live set at Remington Park

Remington Park is known for displaying horsepower during its spring Quarter Horse and fall Thoroughbred meets.

But it will be horsepower of a different kind on display this summertime at the Oklahoma City horse racing venue.

Remington Park officials today formally announced the track is the host site for a trio of motorsports events in June and July: The Hot Rod Power Tour on June 15; the American Motorcycle Association OKC Mile on June 18; and Nitro Circus Live on July 1.

“Remington Park is cementing its position as a true year-round destination,” said Scott Wells, the track’s president and general manager. “Hosting these three exciting events during our typical summer offseason from horse racing provides even more entertainment options for Oklahomans and motorsports fans from around the region.”

The track’s summer of horsepower commences June 15 with the Hot Rod Power Tour. Heading into its 22nd year, the Hot Rod Power Tour is a seven-day, seven-city road trip featuring a diverse collection of hot rod models, trucks and vintage automobiles. Last year, more than 2,000 drivers took their vehicles to all seven tour stops along the 1,500-mile trip.

The tour begins June 11 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and ends June 17 at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. It will wind through Texas before making its June 15 stop in the parking lots at Remington Park.

Gates will be open from noon to 7 p.m., with as many as 4,000 vehicles expected to be on display. The tour is free for spectators to attend, although visitors should be aware that on-site parking will be restricted. More information for spectators, or for local automobile owners looking to take part in the tour or register their vehicle for the Remington Park stop, can be found atwww.HotRod.com/events.

Just days after the hot rods pull out of the parking lot, some of the fastest motorcycle racers in the nation will arrive at Remington Park. On June 18, the track will host the OKC Mile – a stop on the American Motorcycle Association’s 2016 Pro Flat Track Circuit.

The OKC Mile, presented by official sponsor Chickasaw Country and title sponsor John Christner Trucking, will see motorcycle drivers traveling at speeds near 140 mph as they race around Remington Park’s one-mile dirt track.

The AMA Pro Flat Track Circuit is a touring competition featuring specially built motorcycles racing on dirt tracks around the country. The Remington Park stop will begin with qualifying runs at 3:30 p.m. and continue throughout the day until the championship race, set for about 10 p.m. The final will cover 25 laps around the track.

This year’s Remington Park stop will be the first AMA-sanctioned event held in Oklahoma since 1999, when racers visited State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. Information on tickets and additional details about the event are available at www.OKCmile.com.

The next event to hit the Remington Park track will also involve motorcycle riders, and these riders will take their bikes to new heights. Nitro Circus Live will arrive on July 1, with daredevil riders on motorbikes, BMX bikes, skateboards and a host of other contraptions performing an array of high-flying flips and tricks.

Nitro Circus Live has toured globally since 2010, backed by action sports superstar Travis Pastrana. The show has established itself as one of the most thrilling action-sports extravaganzas in the world.
Gates will open for the Remington Park stop at 6 p.m., with the show beginning at 7 p.m. More information about the tour and ticketing is available at www.NitroCircus.com. Visitors looking to reserve private group suites for Nitro Circus Live can call Remington Park at (405) 425-3270.
